TRON Ares Meets MPL Malaysia! Two worlds collide in esports and cinema as TRON: Ares lights up MPL Malaysia Season 16. Week 2 delivered unforgettable highlights, standings shifts, and set the stage for a mentor-versus-protégé showdown in Week 3.
TRON: Ares Brings Sci-Fi Flair to MPL Malaysia
On September 21, 2025, MPL Malaysia officially announced a collaboration with the Hollywood sci-fi blockbuster TRON: Ares, set to hit Malaysian cinemas on October 9, 2025. Fans can expect a futuristic TRON-themed experience at the Dewan Sri Putra, Bukit Jalil during Week 3 (26–28 September) and Week 4 (3–5 October).
From neon visuals to immersive on-site activities, this partnership merges two entertainment worlds — esports and cinema — making Season 16 even more special. As Krystal Tan from MOONTON Games said, the collaboration is about bringing the “digital-to-real” journey of TRON: Ares into the MPL Malaysia stage, bridging esports with mainstream entertainment.

Week 2 Results: CG Esports Rise to the Top
CG Esports (CG) made a powerful debut in Season 16, finishing Week 2 at the top of the standings with 9 Live Points. They swept Untitled (UNTD) and Monster Vicious (MV) with back-to-back 2–0 victories, proving that their veteran leader CikuGais still has what it takes to dominate.
CG Esports (9 points): Wins vs UNTD (2–0) and MV (2–0).
Team Vamos (8 points): Solid 2–0 vs GMXK, followed by a scrappy 2–1 over AERO.
Selangor Red Giants OG (5 points): With a match in hand, the three-time champions remain a looming threat.
🏆 Tiebreaker rules reminder: In MPL MY S16, a 2–0 win = 3 points, 2–1 win = 2 points, 1–2 loss = 1 point, 0–2 loss = 0 points. If teams tie, aggregate match points and head-to-head records decide the standings.
